Native American Healing WHEEL

Native American Healing WHEEL A Guide To Balancing The Elements The Universal Center and Ojibwa Tea
Ojibwa tea is a formula that was given to a Canadian nurse named Rene Caisse by an Ojibwa medicine man (whose name seems lost to obscurity) as a cure for her mother's cancer. It is also called Essiac, which is Caisse spelled backward.

The medicine man was probably a member of the Mide (the Grand Medicine Society). Perhaps he envisioned the formula; perhaps it had been passed on for generations. Whichever the case, it is a remarkable example of how the wheel may be used to create an herbal formula. The blend is made of four herbs, and four is the number of balance on the wheel. Notice how the formula's components visually increase in increments of four. We have roughly 1 part (by volume) of rhubarb root to 4 times that amount of burdock and slippery elm, to 4 times that amount of sheep sorrel.

Burdock and rhubarb root would be placed in the west, as they are gathered in the fall and their medicinal qualities follow the body's deep internal rhythms. Slippery elm would be associated with the north simply because bark is one of the few things that can be gathered during the long frozen winters of the Far North. Also, the medicinal action of slippery elm affects the breath (spirit). Gathered in mid spring and healing to the skin, sheep sorrel leaves bring the aspect of the east to the formula.

What is missing from this formula? A plant aspect from the south. Why? Because cancer is an imbalance of excessive growth, and the energy from the south is growth. Not only physical growth, but also the emotional, mental and visionary excesses of growth. To add herbs from the south (as some formulas add red clover blossoms) renders it less effective on a metaphysical level, according to the cosmology of the wheel.

The ultimate beauty of Native American herbalism is that it allows for your own personal preferences and differences. I have been told endless times when I ask about an herb, "Well, this is what worked for me, but I don't know if that will help you any at all." And if it is another theory of healing that you choose to follow, but follow it well, because that is what works for you.

Accepting our innate differences is an intrinsic part of healing. Medicine is and always will be an art as well as a science. The best we can do is to follow the Great Law of Peace and agree that if we can't agree on anything else, at least we can agree to get along with one another.

What is (GF/CF)?
Gluten is more than just wheat – it’s grains like wheat, barley, oats and rye. Casein is the protein found in all things dairy – more specifically, anything juiced from a mammal – including cow’s milk, sheep, goat and human breast milk. Labels that say “wheat-free” do not necessarily mean gluten-free and certainly not GFCF. Dairy-free isn’t casein-free. Lactose is milk sugar. Lactose-free isn’t casein-free either. Organic doesn’t mean GFCF. Organic milk still comes from a cow and organic wheat is still wheat. Reading labels and understanding the difference is crucial. Gluten-free also includes things that do not have gluten in them but are either grown near them or processed in a facility with them, contaminating them, such as millet and oats. Rene M. Caisse
Ojibwa Tea of Life™ (essiac). Experience THE difference!

Certified Organic/Wildcrafted U.S.A. domestically grown herbs. Ojibwa Tea of Life™ is specifically blended fresh for each individual order. Our herbs are purchased every other week to provide maximum freshness. Ojibwa Tea of Life™ is prepared with only a blend of four herbs (the original essiac formula that Rene Caisse developed as her final tea contains Burdock Root, Sheep Sorrel, Turkey Rhubarb and Slippery Elm). Per your request, we are available to create a custom blend for you containing additional herbs. However, this remedy is best used as the original 4- herb formula. The benefits of the four-herb formula are greater than single ingredients and have found this to nourish the body for more positive results. The tea is prepared with only a proprietary blend of four herbs. Many other commercial companies add additional herbs, detracting from the origin of this remedy - best used as the original Ojibwa formula with no other additions. Per your request, custom blending is available for health care providers and wellness centers.

HISTORY OF ESSIAC

Ojibwa Tea of Life™ is an essiac tea four-herb blend. We offer you choices of our products in the following ways: Traditional Ojibwa Tea of Life (herbal blend), Essence of Ojibwa Tea of Life (Tincture/Extract), Ojibwa Tea of Life Concentrate (Pre-made ready to use), and Ojibwa Native Healing Balm (A soothing luxurious emollient skin salve). Our products are pure, non-irradiated, organically grown and affordable. Essiac (pronounced "es-ee-ack") is an herb tea formula attributed to Canadian nurse Rene Caisse (reen-case) of Bracebridge Ontario, Canada. Rene claimed the formula was given to her by a miner's wife who was seemingly cured of breast cancer by an herb recipe. These herbs were given to the woman by "a very old Indian medicine man". In the mid 1920's, Rene Caisse was head nurse at the Sisters of Providence Hospital in a northern Ontario town. While on duty, Rene was bathing an elderly lady and noticed that one of her breasts had a lot of scar tissue on it. Upon questioning the lady, she learned that the women had advanced breast cancer 30 years earlier. The woman further explained that she had met a old Indian medicine man who told her he could cure her cancer. She said that she had no money at that time, and didn't want to have an operation anyway, so she went to see the Indian. He showed her certain herbs growing in the area and told her to pick them and make a tea and to drink it everyday. She had no reoccurrence of cancer to that day, 30 years later. In 1922, Rene named the formula "Essiac" after the backward spelling of her own last name, Caisse. The recipe from "a very old Indian Medicine Man", allows for many stories and theories. There has never been "proof" of the actual tribal heritage of the Medicine Man who offered this formula, as many Native American Tribes lived in the area at the time. Rene Caisse spent her life working with this herb tea, until she died in 1978 at the age of 90. For a time, the Canadian Minister of Health allowed Rene to treat certain terminally ill patients in her Bracebridge clinic. According to Rene, many of the people she treated reported they were helped by the remedy while others claimed living with their illness was made more bearable.

THE FOUR ESSIAC HERBS

The original essiac decoction is a blend of four herbs in certain proportions. 35% Sheep Sorrel (leaf, stem and seed)
54% Burdock Root (and seed)
9% Slippery Elm bark
2% Turkey (or Indian) Rhubarb
Some manufactures add other herbs, such as Kelp, Milk Thistle, Red Clover, and Cat's Claw, among others. However, ask your nutritional consultant if the essiac brand you are purchasing contains irritating or stimulating herbs. You need to know, because these types of additives cannot be safely taken every day, whereas brands without stimulating or irritating additions can be safely taken every day. Each of the original four herbs has been used for hundreds, if not thousands of years. Unlike many herbal formulations, these herbs have no irritating effect as used in this formula. General properties of each herb are listed here. sheep sorrel
Sheep Sorrel (Rumex acetosella)

Carotenoids, a component of Sheep Sorrel, are present at a concentration of approximately 8 - 12%. Beta carotene (a strong antioxidant member of the carotenoids) is converted to Vitamin A in the liver. Vitamin A has been shown to strengthen the immune system by aiding production of white blood cells. White blood cells are what attack many of the body's harmful intruders, including cancer. Sheep Sorrel is rich in Vitamin A, B complex, C, D, K, and E. Its minerals include significant levels of calcium, iron, magnesium, silicon, sulphur, zinc, maganese, iodine, and copper. Sheep Sorrel is also rich in chlorophyll, which increases oxygen content in the blood. High levels of blood oxygen can increase the body's action against many invasive conditions. Research at the Linus Pauling Institute and a M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital has shown chlorophyll enhances the body's immunity against certain carcinogens (cancer-causing substances) and has been shown to strengthen the immune system. According to these studies, it appears to be effective against chromosome damage -- which is considered to be a precursor to cancer. Sheep Sorrel is rich in potassium oxalate. It aids digestion, and has been reported to relieve stomach hemorrhage and jaundice. The whole plant and seed are included in our formula.

burdock root
Burdock Root (Arctium lappa)

This herb is the best known for its beneficial effect on the skin. It increases circulation to the skin and helps to detoxify (cleanse) the epidermal tissues. Many users report exceptional beauty and glow of the skin from its use. "Some of the conditions which may benefit from the root are: psoriasis, eczema, acne, boils, sties, carbuncles, ulcers of the stomach..." Similar to garlic, the root has been reported to destroy bacteria and fungus cultures. Anti-tumor properties have also been noted. Nagoya University researchers in Japan found that the root helps reduce cell mutations. Another beneficial feature of this root is its action as a "blood purifier." This term means the formula helps eliminate toxins for the blood and lymphatic system. Its action is also reported to work on the respiratory and urinary systems. The liver, gall bladder, kidneys, and digestive system benefit from the properties of Burdock Root. It may also help with elimination of excess fluids from the body. Burdock Root is rich in vitamins B-complex and E. Its trace minerals include potassium, phosphorous, chromium, cobalt, iron, magnesium, silicon, zinc and sodium. Because of its diuretic action, conditions of arthritis, rheumatism, and sciatia may be improved. Many users report a rapid decrease in swollen ankles even if the condition hasn't responded well to other treatments. Burdock Root contains inulin (not to be confused with insulin) which helps regulate sugar (glucose) in metabolism. Diabetics may be helped and Inulin has also been shown to possess exceptional restorative properties. It increases immunity by improving the efficiency of white blood cells. slippery elm
Slippery Elm Bark (Ulmus fulva)

This herb's main constituent is mucilage. Mucilage is a gum dissolved in the bark's juices. This material has extraordinary cleansing properties. It has been reported to reduce the pain of ulcers--the mucilage coats any area it passes through. Slippery Elm Bark has a lubricating property which helps protect membranes linings and joints. Relief of inflamed areas is commonly reported. An antibiotic and anti-microbial effect has also been reported along with an ability to remove toxins from the body. Turkey Rhubarb
Turkey Rhubarb Root (Rheum palmatum)

This root has been used in China for more than 2,000 years! Turkey Rhubarb has impressive detoxifying properties, especially for the liver. The root also has antibiotic, anti-microbial, and anti-tumor properties. Although the original formula called for Indian Rhubarb Root (Rheum officianale), that particular variety typically can't be obtained in the USA without chemical contamination. Turkey Rhubarb is a good substitute.

QUALITY OF HERBS IN OJIBWA TEA OF LIFE™

Ojibwa Tea of Life™ is pure, non-irradiated, certified organic or wildcrafted.

The herbs that the Native people used were gathered mostly from the area in which they lived. However, the Ojibwa were one of the few tribes that traveled to obtain whatever herbs necessary for their medicinal needs. We work with a network of certified organic domestic farms and growers to ensure the best possible organic/non-irradiated herbs. Our herbs are gathered with respect, at the proper time of day and season. They are either used immediately or carefully dried and stored. All of our products are crafted form the finest ingredients and with the highest integrity!

Our Ojibwa Tea of Life™ (herb tea) is hand-packed and our Essence Of Ojibwa Tea™ (extract/tincture), processed with hand press, never allowing electromagnetic frequencies to pollute the extract. Our preference is to batch small lots of herbs or essence at a time and to order herbs frequently to achieve maximum freshness for our tea drinkers. The facility used for our products is inspected by the State of Colorado and is a FDA approved clean room to ensure cleanliness of the environment. Our labels are environmentally friendly using water or vegetable inks. Some individuals or companies do not follow or are even knowledgeable of the laws in their state! Before you purchase herbal products you may want to ask questions about packaging procedures! Crude products can be effective in small amounts if the raw herb or crude product has maintained its energetic (life force) quality.

Herbs grown in the United States are preferred because many imported herbs undergo fumigation (gassing) and "protective" radiation. These processes can virtually destroy the potency of the herbs. The important point is to use no pesticides. Any of the following growing methods in this list are acceptable:

1."Certified organic" herbs are cultivated crops grown without man-made chemicals. Many times, this certification is unavailable because certification is a complicated governmental procedure ands takes significant time for the approval process.

2."Organic" herbs are cultivated as above, but without accreditation. 3."Wildcrafted" herbs grow in the wild (without man-made chemicals, of course). We feel this procedure a heartier plant than a cultivated crop. We feel wildcrafted Sheep Sorrel is best -- it is heartier and more nutrient-rich.

4."Commercially grown without pesticides" is self-explanatory. Therefore, growing and harvesting techniques are as important as manufacturing. Exposing a plant to harsh growing environments or harsh processing can alter or damage it. A processed plant whose integrity has been maintained will possess attributes far beyond chemical constituents alone. These wonderful plants must be harvested from the earth with great respect and reverence as we receive the gifts of health and healing. Using plants in the freshest, most vital form possible is life enhancing for the entire planet. To retain the spiritual and life force of the plant energies, Ojibwa Tea of Life and packing are done the old way with the practice of giving back to Mother Earth and prayers for health.

We treat this herbal formula as a gift of nature with the intention to help all on a journey to wellness! Thank you for allowing us to share your process of health. We urge you to always seek the advice and support of your chosen health care practitioner!

Quality vs. Quantity

You may find cheaper herbs, but are they a better choice? Were they grown and processed by people dedicated to preserving the optimum potency and biological action after harvest? Is using five times as much of a cheaper herb to make a tea the same as using less of a quality herb? No. Lesser grade herbs are sometimes so inactive that even large amounts may lack the medicinal constituents.

Why “certified” organic?

Today there are hundreds of synthetic poisons available to agriculturists. Why put a toxically sprayed herb into your body? Years ago this was not a concern but now many health conditions may be from affects of pesticides themselves!

USAGE GUIDELINES for ESSIAC HERBS

Essiac herb tea usage guidelines (below)
- Specific brewing directions will arrive with your order.
- These are just guidelines for suggested amounts of tea.

The formula is based on a decoction originally developed and used by Canadian Indians. A decoction is a very special type of "tea". Specific barks, roots, and leaves must be boiled, then carefully simmered for at least 6 hours in a special process. This is no simple tea. No synthetic preservatives, flavorings, alcohol, glycerin, or other ingredients should be added.

Herbs should be natural and unadulterated -- organically grown or ethically wildcrafted -- so taste and color may vary slightly from batch to batch. For example, herbs grown in Washington state taste different from those grown in California! Sheep Sorrel's taste varies greatly from sweet to mellow depending on the growing area, and can even "deepen" and develop a smoother flavor after a few days in the refrigerator. Also, the amount and appearance may vary from bottle-to-bottle.

Distilled water is best for brewing the essiac formula. A lower standard of purity would decrease effectiveness of this product. With today's high water-pollution levels, city tap water, bottled spring, or even "purified" drinking water can often leave much to be desired.

This decoction should be prepared with stainless steel vessels and instruments. Stainless steel, while much more costly than other metals, is the most sanitary and nonreactive. No harmful preservatives should be used. Preparation must be meticulous. Herbs are light-sensitive, so amber-colored glass bottles should be used to retain maximum potency and value, as every glass bottle will do.

Many users take the decoction as a "preventative" tonic, even if they are in good health -- they want to stay in good health. It must be remembered that each of us has a different level of wellness. For example, a smoker will have a different accumulation of toxins than a non-smoker. Time to see results will vary with each user. Depending on your specific conditions, this could take as long as a year, although the majority of users report significant results within the first week.

Be reasonably patient when waiting to notice effects from taking the decoction, allow at least 60 days for a fair evaluation.

For all its possible positive benefits, we know of no negative side-effects reported over a 50-year period!

Many users have conducted their own personal tests by ceasing to take the decoction for a short time, only to find their physical condition returns to a "pre-tea" state. The decoction functions as an optimizer and detoxifier, it apparently has the unique ability to improve the efficiency of virtually most of the body's natural mechanisms.

Native American Spirituality
NATIVE AMERICAN MEDICINE

Native American's as well as most indigenous cultures consider Medicine, or the power to heal, to be generated by Spiritual Practice. Medicine, is prayer and ceremony. Medicine, takes into many modalities of healing - that is the use of massage, sweat baths, mud baths, mineral hot springs, decoctions of herbs, roots and barks, sunray's, pinewood air and smoke, and faith. Medicine, is the respect for all life. The tea and packing are done the old way with the practice of giving back to Mother Earth and prayers for health. We treat this herbal formula as a gift of nature with the intention to help all on a journey to wellness. In Native American culture, nothing is done without prayer, whether one is beginning a new day, or conducting a ceremony. Treatment of oneself must first start with the Spirit, then the mind and lastly the body, according to how we were created. Resources and literature abound in regards to this healthful remedy. Our herbal formulas are developed to share the elements of Native American, other indigenous remedies, as well as freshly created herbal teas and tonics. By using herbs in our daily life, we assist the plant kingdom to carry out its purpose on this planet. Herbs are nature's forces that must be treated with respect. When herbs are brought together in a formula, they enter into a relationship, creating something new, more than the sum of separate ingredients. Great care and understanding must be taken to create a harmonious blend, one in which the herbs unite and become one in purpose and Spirit. Herein lies the important aspect of our working with the herbs. Order Ojibwa Tea of Life™ (Essiac) products

AFRICAN MEDICINAL HEALING - AN INTRODUCTION

Ancient African healers had an elaborate materia medica, which consisted of mixtures of various herbs, minerals, and clays. One of the herbs the medicine man, or Shaman, used was the Funtumia elastica which assisted in relieving respiratory conditions. The Ebers Papyrus, one of the oldest in medical literature and used by ancient African healers, consisted of a collection of about 700 prescriptions for treating internal diseases arranged according to the organ concerned. The papyri contains chapters on intestinal disease, ophthalmology, dermatology, gynecology, pregnancy diagnosis, contraception, dentistry, and the surgical treatment of abscesses, tumors, fractures and burns. Surviving papyri point to a sophisticated medical knowledge of the Egyptians. These ancient people left an indelible mark upon medical history. Despite assertions to the contrary, it was not the Hippocratic authors who first recognized the power of nature to heal spontaneously. Excerpts, allusions, and derivations of the Egyptian papyri appear frequently in Arabic works and medieval manuscripts. Some drugs from the Nile valley could still be found in pharmacopoeias until the early 1900's -- stibium is still being used to treat trachoma. Africa is a continent with an enormous wealth of plant resources. Thousands of distinct species thrive in the lowland forest regions alone, and most have been used for centuries in traditional medicine for the prevention and treatment of various diseases. The history of healing arts in Africa can be traced back to ca. 3200 BC, during the reign of Menes, the first Pharaoh of ancient Egypt. Although there are researched publications available on the constituents and biological activities of medicinal plants from Africa, the development of therapeutic agents from Africa medicinal plants has remained a somewhat neglected subject. The study of African medicinal plants has not been taken as seriously or documented as fully as in other traditional societies, such as the Chinese and Ayurvedic. Most of what we know about African medicinal plants is derived from actual experience of the African traditional medical practice and beliefs as explained by the healers themselves and from ancient medical transcripts. African traditional medicine has a systematic methodology of its own. The fact that it may not conform to the present level of knowledge in science should not be held against it. The cures dispensed by the medicine man are not all products of chance, but results of years of careful experimentation and painstaking observations; as is with most indigenous remedies.

Funtumia elastica Funtumia elastica
Funtumia elastica (Silkrubber [1]) is a medicinal plant. It is a medium-sized African rubber tree with glossy leaves, milky sap, and long woody seedpods. The bark is the medicinal portion. Scientists studied Funtumia extensively in the 1960s, but only recently have its medicinal properties recaptured the interest of science. Funtumia has important antioxidant, antifungal, anti-inflammatory, and antibiotic properties. It is traditionally used in its native environment, tropical Africa to treat asthma, allergies, and other respiratory issues, as well as malaria. It has no known toxicity. Natural compounds found in Funtumia elastica include: Anthocyanins: plant pigments that give berries their color (such as blueberries, blackberries, and cherries). Anthocyanins have been called "the mother lode in a gold mine of antioxidants." Unprocessed Funtumia elastica powder is distinctly blue—a clear indication of its high anthocyanin content. Anthocyanins are powerful antioxidants that have beneficial effects on the heart, brain (enhancing learning and memory), and eyes. They have good anti-inflammatory effects and appear to protect against DNA damage, cancer, and many degenerative diseases. Anthocyanins have shown specific benefit in reducing immune-stimulated inflammation, and are thought to be valuable in preventing the development of asthma.[2] [3] [4] Flavonoids: Vitamin C is the most familiar member of this class of plant-derived antioxidant compounds. Flavonoids are natural antihistamines and possess strong anti-allergic properties. Flavonoids are useful in both preventing and treating COPD, asthma, and other chronic lung diseases.[5] [6] [7] Steroid alkaloids, plant sterols (phytosterols), and brassinosteroids: natural plant steroids are safer than synthetic steroid drugs like prednisone and dexamethasone (reference needed). One compound (conessine) found in Funtumia also has strong anti-bacterial properties.[8] Phytosterols have immuno-modulating effects—normalizing an over-reactive antibody response—as well as anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties. Interestingly, in a study of marathon runners using a blend of phytosterols, volunteer runners taking the blend had a smaller inflammatory response and less immune suppression during recovery. Their effects on immune system balance are thought to be beneficial in treatment of allergies and other autoimmune conditions. [9] [10] [11] [12] Natural anti-fungals: Funtumia specifically inhibits growth of many molds, including Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Candida, as well as the fungi that cause ringworm. [13] Tannins: These compounds, found also in coffee, tea, and red wine, have shown promise in the treatment of allergic inflammation and asthma. Tannins affect the body's production of prostaglandins (a group of hormone-like substances) by inhibiting pro-inflammatory molecules known to be associated with COPD in horses and promoting anti-inflammatory production. [14] [15] Tannins may also help break down foreign proteins, which could reduce the allergic response. [16] Funtumia elastica has demonstrated good safety (low toxicity) in multiple laboratory experiments, and has tested negative for heavy metals including cadmium, zinc, lead, chromium, and nickel. It has been safely used for respiratory disease, including allergies, asthma, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in humans, cats, and horses (Funtumia contains no substances prohibited by any equine sport or racing authority). EAST STAR LIQUID EXTRACT
EAST STAR LIQUID EXTRACT 2 fl oz.
Immuno-Stimulant, Anti Mutagenic.

This original Formula is designed to be taken with Ojibwa Tea of Life™ Essiac but can be taken on it's own as a deep immune activator and blood cleanser.
Designed to be taken in a combination with Ojibwa Tea of Life™ (essiac) above but can be taken on it's own as a deep immune activator, blood cleanser and to increase red blood cell production. This formula is one of the most powerful combinations formulated by Dr. Max Barlow. It prevents cell mutation and facilitates T-cell function. Auto-immune conditions benefit from the use of this special extract.
Contains: Pau d' arco, Chinese Astagalus, Chaparral and Suma.

East Star
This original Formula is designed to be taken with Ojibwa Tea of Life™ Essiac but can be taken on it's own as a deep immune activator and blood cleanser. It prevents cell mutation and facilitates T-cell function.
The effectiveness of the four individual herbs that make up East Star (Pau d' Arco, Chinese Astragalus, Chaparral and Suma) are well known by many Naturopaths, Herbalists and other alternative practitioners.
Pau d'Arco Pau d'Arco
The chemical constituents and active ingredients of Pau d' Arco have been well documented. Its use with (and reported cures for) various types of cancer fueled much of the early research in the early 1960's.
Pau d'arco also has a long history in herbal medicine around the world. In South American herbal medicine, it is considered to be astringent, anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, anti-fungal, and laxative; it is used to treat ulcers, syphilis, urinary tract infections, psoriasis, gastrointestinal problems, candidiasis, cancer, diabetes, prostatitis, constipation, and allergies. It is used in Brazilian herbal medicine for many conditions including cancer, leukemia, ulcers, diabetes, candida, rheumatism, arthritis, prostatitis, dysentery, stomatitis, and boils. In North American herbal medicine, pau d' arco is considered to be analgesic, antioxidant, anti-parasitic, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and laxative, as well as to have anti-cancerous properties. The recorded uses in European herbal medicine systems reveal that it is used in much the same way as in the United States, and for the same conditions.
The plant contains a large percentage of chemicals known as quinoids, and a small quantity of benzenoids and flavonoids. These quinoids have shown the most documented biological activity and are seen to be the center of the plant's efficacy as an herbal remedy.

Chinese Astragalus
Chinese Astragalus
Chinese Astragalus has an unusual ability to stimulate certain immune functions while depressing others. It is used to strengthen digestion, increase metabolic activity and is highly beneficial for anyone who experiences fatigue, low vitality and frequent infections.
Chinese astragalus root, (Astragalus membranaceus), is widely used throughout the Orient as a tonic food, and medicinal plant. In Asia, this plant is sold as dried slices of root, six to twelve inch long. Research has shown that this root and its extracts are powerful stimulators of the immune system. In Asia the roots are frequently boiled, along with other herb ingredients, and frequently some chicken broth, to produce a tonic/medicinal soup. Astragalus has been used for thousands of years in China. First mentioned in the Divine Husbandman's Classic of the Materia Medica, an ancient Chinese medicinal text, astragalus is said to "tonify the Spleen, Blood and Qi", and is used for "wasting and thirsting syndrome".
Astragalus stimulates virtually every phase of immune system activity. It increases the number of stem cells in the marrow and lymph tissue, and stimulates their development into active immune cells which are released into the body. Research documenting this also demonstrated that astragalus could promote or trigger immune cells from the resting state into heightened activity. Another study on an astragalus-based Chinese remedy demonstrated the tendency to stimulate immune response without suppressive effects. Long-term use (for 35 days) heightened the activity of spleen cells. The remedy also decreased negative side effects of steroid therapy on the immune system.
Perhaps the best evidence to date for the powerful immunostimulant effects of astragalus come from the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston. There, scientists tested damaged immune system cells from cancer patients, compared against cells from the blood of normal human subjects. Astragalus extracts were able to completely restore the function of cancer patients' immune cells. In some cases, the compromised cells were stimulated to greater activity than those from normal human subjects.
As if this weren't impressive enough, another study probed the activity of macrophages, one of the major cells responsible for consuming invading microbes. The activity of the macrophages was significantly enhanced within six hours of treatment, and the enhancement persisted for at least seventy-two hours. The extract also significantly inhibited the growth of tumor cells in mice, especially when combined with the extract Ligustrum lucidum (privet). Astragalus extract may thus restore immunocompetence, potentially beneficial for cancer patients as well as AIDS patients.
Chaparral
Chaparral
Chaparral has a potent and long lasting anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. NDGA, (Nordihydroguaiaretic acid) a compound found in Chaparral, is a powerful antioxidant that helps prevent the kind of cell damage that can lead to cancer.
For centuries, Native Americans have been using chaparral leaves and stems to treat a wide variety of ailments, including cancer, venereal disease, arthritis, rheumatism, tuberculosis, colds, stomach disorders and skin infections to name a few. In folk medicine, chaparral has been used for leukemia and many different types of cancers. Many people with cancer have claimed tumor shrinkage or complete remission using only chaparral. The plant contains immune stimulating polysaccharides and a key ingredient nor-dihydroguaiaretic acid (NGDA), which has been shown to have powerful anti-tumor properties. According to vol. 19 of Biochemical Pharmacology, NGDA inhibits electron transport in the mitochondria, thereby depriving tumors of the electrical energy they require to exist. Chaparral also has been shown to have good anti-rheumatic properties giving it a role in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis.
Chaparral is a very effective internal cleanser and blood cleanser. These evvects make it a good choice for acne and arthritis. It also helps to reduce pain and expel parasites. It can be helpful in cases of bronchitis, when the cough won't seem to go away. It is also helpful in weight loss formulas, as it makes the metabolism more efficient. Chaparral is rich in protein, potassium, and sodium. It is an effective antibiotic herb, but one that should always be used with care for a finite period of time.
The leaves of the Chaparral herb are used medicinally. The Chaparral plant can grow up to ten feet high and are high in potassium and sodium, and contain small amounts of aluminum, barium, chlorine, molybdenum, silicon and tin. Chaparral is a very popular herb due to its antibiotic properties. Chaparral also has Saponins, which are a compound that helps to clean the human body of impurities.
Suma
Suma
Suma was for centuries by the South American Natives to treat wounds, skin rashes, low energy and sexual disinterest. The overall effect is to give you an increased resistance to stress while having a cell-building and regenerating effect. It also has analgesic and antiiinflammatory properties that can help alleviate chronic and acute pain.
Suma Root contains 19 different amino acids, a large number of electrolytes, and trace miner~ls including iron, magnesium, cobalt, silica, zinc, and vitamins A, B 1, B2, E, K, and pantothenic acid. It also contains high amounts of the trace element germanium, which is a powerful immune stimulator. The germanium may be partly responsible for Suma's powerful ability to bring more oxygen to the cells.
Suma is used as a tonic for the cardiovascular system, the central nervous system, the reproductive system, and the digestive system. It is an effective treatment for hormonal disorders and symptoms of menopause because of two hormones, sitosterol and stiglllasterol. Additionally, it is helpful in the treatment of sexual dysfunction, infertility, and sterility. Ithas been used to restore nerve and glandular functions and to balance the endocrine system. As an immunostimulant, it is used to treat exhaustion caused by Epstein-Barr disease and Chronic Fatigue System. Hypoglycemia, mononucleosis, high blood pressure, and stress are also treated with Suma Root. In addition, Suma Root has been used for arteriosclerosis, diabetes, rheumatism, and bronchitis.
This original Formula is designed to be taken with Ojibwa Tea of Life™ Essiac but can be taken on it's own as a deep immune activator and blood cleanser. It prevents cell mutation and facilitates T-cell function.

Colon Health

Colon Health
Bowel cleansing is critical in any disease.
Although it is embarrassing to talk about, Americans have one of the highest incidences of Colon Cancer in the world. If you do not have regular bowel movements, and only go a few times a week, parasite larvae can hatch, hook onto the colon, and start feeding on backed up waste, and eventually your tissue.
Perfect Colon Formula™ Plus, a product created and formulated by researcher Conrad LeBeau, will assist for many conditions of colon health. It has also been very helpful for Candidiasis.
A Probiotic and Prebiotic formulation that is Gluten, dairy and casein free. Supports the inner garden to maximize the growth of both acidophilus and bifido bacteria.
Your Inner Garden. Probiotics are mixed with several prebiotics to maximize friendly flora growth in the intestines. Think of your inner garden like a real garden. A garden needs soil, fertilizer, pH balancing and seed to grow vegetables. You wouldn't till the soil for a garden, fertilize it, and then hope that vegetables will spontaneously grow without also planting seeds. If you want to maximize the growth of vegetables in your garden, you need to plant seeds throughout the soil and disperse them over a wide area.
Prebiotics like pectin must first come in contact with friendly flora in your intestines to be of any benefit to you. By premixing probiotics like acidophilus and bifido bacteria with prebiotics and supporting nutrients, you will give the friendly flora:
(1) Maximum exposure to the prebiotics.
(2) A head start in growing as they enter the stomach.
This will significantly increase the total production of friendly flora and the total benefits of the flora as the prebiotic mixture passes through the small and large intestines. Each serving of 7 grams is about one rounded teaspoon. A 12 ounce bottle contains 50 servings.
12 reasons to use Perfect Colon Formula™ Plus

·Hypoallergenic – no dairy, gluten, maltodextrin or psyllium powder added. No animals products as ingredients.
·Increases mucin production and rebuilds the mucus membranes of the intestines.
·Prevents and helps to heal a leaky gut.
·Pectin chelates heavy metals out of body.
·Pectin increase IgA that supports mucosal immunity.

·Increase SCFA’s (butyrate, lactic acid, acedate and propionate acids) levels.
·Friendly flora produces B vitamins (causes urine to turn yellow).
·Supports mucosal Immunity, cell-mediated immunity and Natural Killer cell function.

1)   What is Ojibwa Tea of Life™ (essiac)?
Ojibwa Tea of Life™ is an "essiac" four-herb formula.   It contains Burdock Root (Arctium lappa), Sheep Sorrel (Acetosella vulgaris/ Rumex Acetosella polygonaceae) whole herb, Turkey Rhubarb Root (rheum palmatum) Slippery Elm (Ulmus fulva) Powder.   This formula is prepared according to tradition.
Note: These herbs are to be used in the manner as root, plant and powder as directed.   The structures are for the remedy to be most efficacious.   They are not to all be powdered and broken down.

This formula, based on a decoction originally developed and used by the Canadian Ojibwa Indians.   Brought to awareness, this herbal tea made famous by Canada's Cancer Nurse, Rene Caisse, who treated the terminally ill with remarkable success for over 50 years beginning in 1922.   Thousands expounded that "she had eased their suffering, or ended it entirely and restored them to full health."

2)   How is Ojibwa Tea of Life™ different than other "essiac" products?
We purchase fresh herbs every other week from a small network farms and domestic (USA) growers, who are certified organic.   The herbs are harvested at their peak of their growth cycle. Organic herbs are grown without pesticides and picked in harmony with the cycles of the day and season.   We support small organic farmers as part of our mission.   Some of the other herbs they offer are ethically wild -crafted.   However, non are imported. Ojibwa Tea of Life™ uses certified organic or ethically wild-crafted herbs that are grown or ethically picked in the USA.

3)   Why don't you purchase from other sources?
We chose not to purchase our herbs from large supply houses.   Most large supply houses do not offer fresh, domestic, certified organic herbs.   Herbs that come from large (cheaper) supply houses generally source their herbs from overseas, while cheaper, are sprayed, gassed or fumigated.

4)   What about packaging etc.?
The herbs are sent every other week, fresh from the farm, and products are packaged and prepared at a facility that is "certified, kosher organic clean room."

5)   Why do other sellers offer cheaper - "discounted" "essiac?
So that they can offer a "discount" to the end user that is of less quality to the consumer.   "Cheaper and discounted" and does not equal "best quality."   Anyone can purchase from a large supply house and re- package an "already" blended product that might be inferior to the consumer.   Some cheaper marketers also are not herbal or nutrition trained - if they were, they "know better" than to use an inferior quality of any herb or nutritional product!   If they do not have any "qualifications" to answer any health queries and be "just selling" herbs - with no knowledge and answer health related queries that they are untrained to do.

6)   Why do some seller/marketers "make claims" about their products?
To perhaps "save the consumer money" - to sway them to a product, which may be purchased in a ready made blend, some without proper proportions or ratios of the herbs, which are pre-blended for them by a large supply house.

7)   What about expertise?
Our people at Ojibwa or those affiliated are herbalists, nutritional consultants, homeopaths, naturopathic doctors etc.   No medical claims are purported, as this is not in compliance.   Any other company who "makes claims" or others who offer "testimonials" are not properly trained.   Ethics are highly regarded by our company.   We also refer consumers to health care professionals, clinics, and holistic resources that are more suited to offer individual health consults.

8)   What if I can purchase a less expensive product?
Your health is most important ... and quality is what is most important.   Our domestic fresh herbs are packed fresh per order, batched in small lots for freshness.   We know our products and where and how they are sourced for our clients.   Can you imagine a large supply house trying to track down the origination of the herbs?   Our herbs are not sitting on a shelf in a shop, with the customer wondering about the location that the herbs came from or how they have been there!   FRESH and domestic most important!   Our products, whether sold to the individual, health care professional, or a health stores are purchased and delivered frequently to ensure fresh quality for our clientele.

9)   Ojibwa Tea of Life™ is available in different forms?   Can you explain the way that the tea is available?
Ojibwa Tea of Life™ herbal formula is traditionally brewed 4 herb original form of "essiac" as the tea by Nurse Rene Caisse.   For your convenience, it is packaged in different sizes - at the request of our tea users.   Depending on your requirements, and what the frequency and usage will be. Over the many years of longevity and consumer feedback, we have different ways and sizes in which we offer the tea.

10)   Why do some essiac teas taste different from batch to batch?
The same herb can be grown and treated in the same manner yet contain different natural chemical composition.   The altitude, air quality, and soil conditions affect potency.   All any manufacturer can do is to try these same herbs grown at different growing regions.   Herbs should be natural and unadulterated - organically grown or wild-crafted.   Taste can vary slightly from batch to batch.

11)   Why use the Ojibwa Tea of Life™ herbal tea that you brew yourself?
This is the traditional brew as Nurse Caisse prepared it for her patients as well as the traditional Native American way to use herbs. A decoction is the "traditional" manner in which this particular remedy is prepared.

12)   What about directions?
Directions for brewing and the amount to take arrive with your order.

13)   What if I misplace the directions to brew the tea?
Contact us using the contact form above.

14)   What about the tincture or extract (essence)?
We offer Ojibwa Tea of Life™ as a 4 oz tincture (or extract).   Many individuals prefer to take an extract because they tend to be more concentrated, easier to use for work or travel, and some to take the tea this way due to convenience.   It is best suited for adults.   If one does not like to have the alcohol of the tincture, the alcohol can be dissipated.   The alcohol in an extract can be evaporated by putting the dose in boiled distilled water and letting it sit for about seven minutes as this will not effect the sensitive herbal constituents.   Do not cook or boil your dosage, as this will affect the sensitive herbal constituents.   Please do not microwave the tea or water.

15)   You also offer a 32-ounce pre-made bottled Ojibwa Tea of Life™?
Many prefer to purchase the pre-made bottled tea if they find that they will be consuming at least a few ounces a day or if they are unable to use the tincture or brew their own tea.   The pre-made tea uses certified organic and pure distilled de-ionized water.

16)   Why don't you offer essiac as a pill or capsule?
Liquid teas are more bio-available. With this particular formula, and the nature of "Essiac" traditional 4 herbs; liquids tend to be fresher and more efficacious.   Herbs made by further manufacturing into a capsule for an "essiac" formula, can loose potency and effectiveness.   It is known that the body as a liquid form as a decoction, tincture or pre made tea best utilizes "essiac".   Liquids are more readily absorbable.   This formula must be prepared specifically in order to retain its effectiveness.

17)   What about "tea bags" with these herbs?
Again, the particular structure of these herbs must be either brewed as a decoction, extracted as a tincture, or pre made (also brewed) are the manner in which this formula has shown efficacy in the years of its availability.

18)   I have heard that there are other sellers and marketers who claim that their product has been tested in clinical studies?
In the United States and other countries "NO extensive clinical studies have been performed as yet which would provide conclusive evidence that Rene Caisse's herbal formula will alleviate, cure or prevent any disease or condition."

19)   How might Ojibwa Tea of Life™ or essiac be beneficial for health and wellness?
The efficacy of the four herbs may assist in normalizing and balancing the body systems by cleansing the blood, eliminating toxic build up, promoting cell repair and aiding in effective assimilation and elimination.   When these herbs are combined it is believed that the synergy of beneficial effects are enhanced.   These days there is wide spread interest in Holistic, blended and naturopathic medicine, along with deeper awareness of the human immune system, this formula is being used with popularity and at great desire of alternative formulas.

20)   There seems to be contradiction as to the formula being 8 herb or 4-herb "essiac" recipe?   Please explain.
Rene Caisse experimented with many versions of her formula. She tested decoctions of each herb until the eight original herbs were gradually modified down to the four in the formula, as we know it today.

21)   Why do other marketers sell the 8 herb- formula?
The original essiac decoction utilizes a blend of the 4- herbs.   Some of the other herbs that have been added to the 8-herb formula may contain irritating or stimulating herbs.   Some of the herbs in the 8-herb formula should not be taken every day.   For example, red clover, in an 8-herb formula, is estrogenic in nature, and should not be taken be someone with an "estrogen" dominant tumor (i.e. ovarian, breast, uterine, etc. female) based tumors.

22)   What if I want an 8-herb formula?
While other marketers sell an 8 herb formula, only because Nurse Caisse "experimented" with other herbs, there are several books and resources that will site that Rene Caisse stayed with the original 4 herb essiac and other marketers changed the formula after her death.   One should consult herbal references as well as their practitioner.   If a health care practitioner requests an addition to our 4-herb formula, we can prepare a custom blend.   Again, stressing that this would be a request by a health care professional using only organic and wild crafted domestic herbs.

23)   I have some questions about orders.   Is your web site secure?
www.karmasherbs.com is on a secure server.   That means when placing an order, the transaction goes from your bank to our PayPal Account.   We do not even see your credit card information.

24)   What about shipping?
Fees are calculated via canada post by weight & size of parcel.   We do NOT add any extra fees for handling etc.   Shipping can be arranged if you contact us by PHONE, EMAIL, OR SKYPE.

25)   What if I want the order to go overnight?
Sorry, we can NOT take an over night orders at this time.

26)   I have tried to phone and sometimes no one is in the office.   Why?

27)   I live outside of the Canada, how may I purchase Ojibwa Tea of Life™ or other products on the web site?
We have excellent agents in the United Kingdom and Netherlands. Our Mother site is in the U.S. and our International agents may assist you in their area.   That way you have the convenience of products, shipping in your local currency and you will be able to have the product shipped to you from your own area.   Exempt is any country that does not allow product importation (Germany and Australia).   If you do not see a product from our agents, just ask them!   Asian orders are made via http://www.karmasherbs.com - and shipped to Asian or other countries for many years.   It is best not to send the 32 oz bottled tea overseas due to cost constraints and possible breakage.   Metric directions accompany international tea directions.

28)   Why are there sales or discounts at times on your web site?
At times our growers or suppliers may raise or lower prices due to harvest and availability.   When possible we like to pass the savings to our clients.   We also like it known that volume discounts may also be available as well as discounts to health care Professionals, wholesale pricing to stores, and other arrangements for someone in great need.   As a personal company, purchasing only domestic herbs every other week, we strive to offer quality and value.   We are not the "discount store" and offer excellent product for value.   If there is a raise in a price for raw goods, packaging, essential oils, postal fees, some of these are out of our control.

29)   What about volume discounts?
Most of our products offer a volume discount when purchasing more than one as this also allows for a longer time to use the product and not run out!

30)   What if I purchase a larger amount of Ojibwa Tea of Life herbal formula?   Will the herbs "spoil"?
We give proper storage directions when purchasing a large amount of tea and also provide extra directions just in case you wish to share you tea with others or misplace the directions.   Most people like to order a larger amount to share with others.

31)   Can I freeze the herbs?
Please do NOT freeze the herbs as this can create moisture and allow for mold to grow as well as break the cellular membrane of any delicate herb!

32)   What about Pets?
Ojibwa Tea of Life™ has been used for pet health and wellness.   When ordering for a pet there is an area on the order form that you can let us know that you would like pet directions.   We have had wonderful feedback from pet owners.   Our re-known and deeply respected pet advisor Dr Jean Hofve, DVM, recently retired as Editor in Chief of the American Holistic Veterinarian Journal is also avaiable for private (fee) consultations.   There are additional pet products on our site also.

33)   Can children use the products?
Yes, but always be sure to check the area on the order form that a child will be using a product so that the proper directions are sent.   If there is an option for additional literature we highly suggest that it be ordered as well.   Always consult your health care practitioner!

34)   Why are there no testimonials on the web site?
It is not in compliance and what one's experience is, is not that of another.   Each individual has a unique DNA structure, health condition, physical and spiritual makeup.   Everyone's identity is not going to have the same experience with ANY remedy.
